Encarsia Formosa
For control of white flies ( Trialeurodes vaporariorum and Bemisia spp .) The adult wasp is around 2 mm in length yellow and black in appearance. The development from egg till adult is around 3 week at 25 degree Celsius. The whole development of Encarsia happens inside the whitefly. The adult Encarsia lay the eggs (up to 200) in the larvae of the whitefly. Parasitized whitefly becomes black after 12-14 days.
How to use
It is very important to discover whiteflies early in a culture. If many whiteflies already occur, treat with insectsoap or a selective chemical agent, and release Encarsia short after this treatment. Temperature must be minimum 20 degree Celsius in 8-12 hours per day. Use 1-10 Encarsia per m2. The release of Encarsia must continue week by week, until 80 % of the whiteflies are black. Encarsia can be stored a few days at 8 degrees Celsius
