Slugs are becoming a serious pest as well in fields as in gardens. Nematodes, Nemaslug ( Phasmarhabdites hermafrodita ) are now available as a commercial product. They control the slugs by penetrating them and releasing damaging bacteria's into the slugs.

Nematodes for control of slugs (Nemaslug)

• •  The slug-infested area has to be watered before the treatment.
• •  Use Nematodes in the evening, optimal use is after sunset.
• •  Soil temperature has to be between 5 - 20 degrees Celsius.
• •  Mix the nematodes in cold water.
• •  Mix the 12 mill nematodes (for 40 m2) with water up to 8 litre (concentrate).
• •  ½ litre of this concentrate is diluted to 5 litre. (ready to use mix).
• •  5 litre is for treatment of 2,5 m2
• •  The nematode-water-mix has to be used within 4 hours.
• •  The whole pack is for 40m2/100 m2 (depending on packsize)

The result of the treatment will come through within one week. Each pack of Nematodes consists of either 12 or 30 million Nematodes. The nematodes are naturally occurring in soil The nematodes work for minimum 6 week in the treated area.
